Imagine an Australian Shepard standing in a field of sheep; a sheep herder gonna herd and I am gonna curate! I can’t help it!!!! I am driven by curation; it’s how my brain finds order in a very over stimulated system. It orients me. I wanna be in the know! I wanna know who bought what, what’s not selling, what’s your favorite book, restaurant, who sold what restaurant to whom in places I don’t even live, did you have the tea on tap at Beacon Coffee in Ojai that tastes just like a morning beer? I like to know!!

Also I LOVE telling people about things I LOVE. I love leaving the house and stumbling on the perfect day, somewhere between errands and potentially the best day of your life! I guess this is the New Yorker in me, never knowing what will unfold. Here in Los Angeles we have to be more intentional (I learned this word on The Bachelor!!) about it, we have to work harder to get in the flow here in LA!

So… INTRODUCING… JENNY’S TOP EIGHT! Move over Tom! I got my own top eight! APRIL EDITION.

xxJ

  1. SMILE BABY sweatshirts. I started these sweatshirts to have fun and to find fun ways to give back a little bit. I also made them because I wanted to wear them, that’s my guide, do I wanna wear this? Yes!! I wear them all the time. My favorite thing to hear is how people put them on as soon as they get home; it’s their comfort sweatshirt and that makes me so happy.

20 SMILE BABY’s left and when they are gone, they are gone.

One of a Kind Vintage Embroidered Sweatshirts. 20% of this most recent batch goes to No Kid Hungry. $125

    Contact ME for purchase!!! jreneedavis@gmail.com

2. Um, all I wanna say about Charlotte Wells AFTER SUN is that it’s one of the best movies ever and it’s haunting and I’m gonna let you have your own experience. I think Tessa put it best, she said, “It’s so nice to have someone show you a story and not tell you what’s happening.” WATCH IT. Also the acting is perfect.

3. The Lovely Louie Salad at The Lonely Oyster in Echo Park. I am not a food writer, I am a food eater. Go to the Lonely Oyster, order anything you want, but this salad got me on cravings!!

4. Nell Van Vorst is my favorite ceramicist on Nantucket!! Every single time I land on island I harass my dear friend Sarah about finding out where Nell is selling. One time I made her take me to her house! And now this, DANDELIONS!!! C’mon! It’s too good. No two pieces are exactly the same. All made in her studio on Nantucket.

5. Bo by Liis !! Elemi , Tobacco Leaves, Redwood Pine, Incense, Guaiac Wood, Cedar, Vanilla Beans. WTF is Elemi? Who cares!! This smells AMAZING. The feeling of falling in love with a new scent is one of my favorites, and one that feels so clean and fresh it doesn’t close up my throat (so sexy being me!!) AND spoiler alert, I think Bo stands for Bohemian, but I get compliments everywhere I go that I smell amazing, so pick your battles!

Go get this at Sunroom, home of all things beautiful and playful and pretty. And you get to see Lucy!

6. It’s about time! I am loving watching the women I grew up with start to use their voices, to tell their stories. Also loved Pretty. Baby! I love middle age!!! I love that we are of a generation of women that are beginning to claim it, own it, talk about the middle of this life journey. Honestly, it’s been my most interesting and powerful developmental stage so far. The desire to be liked, to be chosen and desired has started to recede and in it’s place this magical land of ME, of my own empowerment and creative force. Love, Pamela reminded me that life is meant to be fully lived; give away all the clothes, get married, get your heart broken and do it all again. Keep living big and keep going big.

7. My friend Jen got this and then I HAD TO HAVE IT!! Living Libations Best Skin Ever Seabuckthorn!! I am obsessed! It smells marvelous and makes my skin very soft and a touch glowy. Living Libations is open in Venice for private appointments only, and I went, that’s how badly I wanted this. Sometimes I just get a bee in my bonnet and I can’t let it go, and I do not regret it. I’m gonna go use it right now!

8. The paintings of Hungarian-American artist Rita Ackermann at Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles. “Ackermann’s compositions occupy a space between the figurative and the abstract, where human forms simultaneously disappear and re-emerge.” Vertical Vanish up until April 30th. GLOW NOW! ILY.
