Where were you raised? Has the landscape of that place influenced your work in any way?

I was raised in Prairie Village, Kansas - a suburb outside of Kansas City. Thinking about this question, one way it may have shaped my work, is the yearning for quiet. Growing up somewhere peaceful and then living in New York City and Los Angeles, lately I have been craving the quietude and spaciousness again that smaller cities have to offer.

Do you collect anything?

When I was little I collected buttons, I loved collecting things. Today…I try not to collect things haha. I do have some seashells and rocks in my home that I love and that inspire me.

One amendment ~ I collect vintage t shirts !! They’re the one category it’s hard for me to say “no” to when I stumble across a good one.

What was the last thing that you fell in love with?

The seasons. I’m currently enrolled as an apprentice in The School of the Sacred Wild. An herbalism program based in the Wise Woman tradition of healing. And learning about the seasons and the energy of each one…I’m becoming obsessed with adoration. I’m thinking of a clock with different blocks of time as each season: Morning as Spring, Daytime as Summer, Evening as Fall, and Nighttime as Winter. Leaning into the energies of each time and honoring the season!

What do you love most about yourself?

I love that I never give up on what I am striving or yearning towards. Whether it is a move, making a career shift, establishing new habits. I love that when I look back through old notebooks and read over heartbreaks, they have never stopped me. It makes me feel very impressed with younger versions of myself.

What is your favorite smell? How does it make you feel? Or what memory does it bring you toward?

My favorite smell is the forest trees in Santa Cruz and in Griffith Park. They remind me of summer camp when I was a kid, just walking from the cabin to the dining hall. I feel grateful that it is a smell that is easily accessible to me, too.

How do you recharge your creative battery?

Sleep, giving space to whatever project I may be working on, a little solo road trip.

What book are you reading?

I’m currently reading Plant Spirit Medicine by Eliot Cowan :)

Who are your role models?

Women who are healers who are in their 40’s. At this moment, I’m 27, and I really look up to women who have established practices, are integrated and in integrity and grounded in love. Maybe they are building their homes and have little children, too. It’s a phase of life that I look forward to but am not rushing towards.

If you could change one thing about our world, what would it be? Is there an individual or an organization doing work in this area that you want us to know about?

Yes!! I would make all conventional farms regenerative. I highly recommend looking into Kiss the Ground, and listening to some episodes on the Soundfood podcasts about Regeneration.

If I was not afraid, I would...

Free myself of worries and fears.
