Marbled Greeting Cards by Maggie Paxton Available at Judi Rosen New York. Well, I guess we are doing all the heavy hitters here because the only store I HAVE to go to when I’m in the city is Judi Rosen for jeans, T’s, jumpsuits, and now, greeting cards. If you read the last newsletter and you are ready to get on board with The Thank You Note Challenge these cards are a beautiful place to begin!!
MONOMERCER hand towels. If you’ve ever read a post on What I Loved you can basically thank Conn, the artist behind these handwoven dreamy objects. I first fell hard for his hand towels at Paia Pearl on Maui. The idea for What I Loved had been kicking around, but I hadn’t actually done anything about it. When I first saw those color popping pieces of art I thought I need all of these AND I wanna tell the world (lol) about them! When I went back a couple of days later for more he happened to be there. I don’t know why this was the sign that I needed, but it pushed me to actually start What I Loved, and so I am always grateful for this little nudge from a stranger to take action. But… it’s taken me so long now to tell you that these one of a kind limited edition kitchen cheering pieces still bring me so much happiness. Follow. Get. Give. Thank you Conn!
Les Agendas De L’Annee My favorite time of year is when I start to shop for a new day planner. I mean, obvs not cuz that would be sad, but I LOVE it! I am a meticulous note taker, list maker, journaler, day planner; I always have been. I am a record keeper, I think it’s the writer in me, I like having parts of a life tracked through movie dates and flights.
The work of Hue Thi Hoffmaster I called about a Colleen Herman thing, and stumbled upon the beauty of this work. I’m gonna let the words percolate; it’s still dripping into my system, but Oh My GAHH.
The artists of Tierra Del Sol This is one of MY ALL TIME FAVES! I was first introduced to this organization through RTH, and I have been taken by the work of these artists ever since. This past November I went to the opening of their holiday group show Bazaar Bazaar at their gallery. I brought home this Untitled Mario by artist Rosa Ramirez, and he now lives right next to my thrift store Quan Yin as a little protector. I can’t wait to see what the next show is! I think Tierra Del Sol says it best when they state, We champion inclusion and value for all individuals with disabilities through creative pathways to employment, education, and the arts. Work can be purchased year round on their website here!
The Gods of New York by Jonathan Mahler I loved this incredible woven narrative of New York City from 1986 - 1990. It’s a great listen, and then by chance my friend and hair genius, Kim Elliott recommended..
The Library Book by Susan Orlean This was the most perfect companion book to listen to after The Gods of New York, also a woven story of Los Angeles during a similar time. My two homes, two books, I LOVED! Honestly politics and libraries never seemed so good.
